Alternative Forms of Knowledge Production & Dissemination

There cannot be global social justice without having global epistemic (cognitive/ knowledges) justice (Santos, 2008). This section relates to challenging hegemonic and dominant forms of knowledge production and dissemination brought by neoliberal and capitalistic mindsets in the academia. Academics, PhD students and professors are some how insidiously pressured to publish in high ranked journals creating a feeling of dis-empowerment and unaccomplishment.

Unless knowledges based/produced on the most vulnerable communities such as immigrants, LGBTQA2S+and BIPOC are being validated and amplified, there cannot be real social justice.

Here, we try to magnify alternative forms of knowledge that have been for years erased or relegated to the margins of academia. We encourage folks to work more on these alternative forms and come together as a community to level the playing field for all knowledges.

Here are some examples:

Knowledge(s) production
Dialogues / Plurialogues: (Rivera Cusicanqui, 2018, April 28).
Two or more folks sit together to discuss a specific topic around a problematic situation in society or in their own communities.
